Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Gajanur (JNVG) Alumni Association ‘Milana’ is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to engage in charitable & educational activities towards JNVG. We raise funds for creating scholarships, setting up endowments and promoting overall development of JNVG in particular, and Educational Institutions as whole. It also aims at strengthening the ties, friendship and communication amongst former students, current students, faculty and friends of the institute.
Like minded individuals from this group who wish to make this earth green again and contribute towards the environmental cause have started this Seedball Programme for the benefit of the mankind. The group is the brainchild of Mr.Karthik Satyamurthy who has taken lead in propagating the agenda of this group throughout India Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Schools and many esteemed educational institutions across the country. There is a very good positive response from various sections of the society who are making this a programme success story by participating in big numbers for this cause. The group has overseen the production and dispersal of over 1 crore seedballs across the country so far.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are Indian schools for talented children and form a part of the system of gifted education. The objectives of the scheme are to provide good quality modern education to the children predominantly from rural areas, without regard to their family’s socio-economic condition.
First established in 1985, they are the brain child of the former Prime Minister, Late. Rajiv Gandhi to find and foster talented children from the rural parts of India. They were formerly named as Navodaya Vidyalayas and renamed later as ‘Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas’ in the birth-centenary year of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of Independent India. Navodaya Vidyalayas are located all over the country, except Tamil Nadu. There are approximately 557 JNVs across India as of now.
